What is the Readmobile?

The Readmobile brings learning, literacy, and fun to Scott County communities with visits to public and residential sites, community organizations, and special events.

Children and their families and caregivers can visit anytime during a Readmobile stop. Readmobile activities and materials encourage literacy and learning to help prepare children for school, reading, and beyond.

What does a visit look like?

During a visit, children can browse and borrow from our diverse collection of books, grab a healthy snack, and receive a fun age-specific activity. You do not need a library card to borrow books; items borrowed may be returned at another Readmobile visit or your local library.

Readmobile History

The Readmobile vehicle and start-up collection were funded by the Diane J. Sachs Trust and a grant from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. Staff and ongoing collection funds are supported by the library’s operating budget. The programming model for the vehicle was developed by staff from Scott County Public Health, Children’s Services, and the Library.
