Description
State Highway 169 is a freeway-type facility from Brooklyn Park, MN to County Highway (CH) 14 in Louisville Township. South of CH 14, State Highway 169 is characterized by many at-grade accesses, minimal or no acceleration, deceleration or dedicated turn-lanes, and increasing safety and mobility concerns. As the only north-south principal arterial on the west side of Scott County, State Highway 169 provides a primary connection from communities such as Jordan, Belle Plaine, and Mankato to the greater Twin Cities metro area.
In 2019 Sand Creek Township completed a Corridor Study on State Highway 169 from the Louisville/Sand Creek Township line to State Highway 21, north of Jordan. This study reviewed existing conditions, developed planning level concepts, provided stakeholder engagement opportunities, and made a final recommendation to pursue an overpass of State Highway 169 if funding became available.
Purpose & Justification
The purpose of this project is to design an overpass of State Highway 169 in an area between 173rd Street and Bluff Drive that addresses corridor safety, access management, mobility, connectivity, accessibility, public input, and environmental considerations of the area.
