SCPC Drug Free Communities Grant

What is the Scott County Prevention Coalition Drug Free Communities (DFC) Grant?

The Drug Free Communities (DFC) Program mobilizes communities to prevent and reduce substance use among youth with the help of the community and coalition.

The program drives community leaders to identify and respond to the top drug problems unique to their community and change local community environmental conditions tied to substance use.

Who are we?

The Scott County Prevention Coalition (SCPC) represents more than twelve different sectors within the community, including: business, civic/volunteer organizations, health care, government, law enforcement, media, other substance abuse organizations, parents, religious organizations, school, youth, and youth-serving organizations. The Coalition is dedicated to preventing tobacco use, underage drinking, marijuana, and prescription drug abuse in Scott County. We believe that local problems need local solutions, and that we need the entire community on board; this is not solely the responsibility of parents or schools, but of the entire community.

The DFC program goals are to:

1.    Establish and strengthen collaboration

2.    Reduce substance use among youth

Our Mission: Scott County Prevention Coalition (SCPC) is a diverse partnership dedicated to engaging and mobilizing the community to reduce and prevent youth and adult substance abuse for a sustainable and healthy community.

Our Vision: Inspiring community change to create a culture of wellness and eliminate substance abuse.
