Games
We now offer over 100 games in all Scott County Library locations. Games build literacy and critical thinking skills, teach cooperative play, and promote brain development in children and young adults. Plus, they’re fun and growing in popularity.
Tabletop Games
Roll the dice and try a tabletop game! From matching to trivia, we offer popular board games for all ages. Make sure to read the description on the game to ensure it's right for your child.
Outdoor Games
Take the fun outdoors with yard games likes spike ball, bags, ladder toss, croquet, bocce, and pickleball.
Take Home Play Kits
These kits are designed to combine literacy and play! Each Take Home Play Kit includes a copy of a book and related toys, puppets or manipulatives that support the five practices and six skills outlined in the Every Child Ready to Read curriculum we use for our Early Literacy classes.
Free Puzzle Exchanges
Who doesn't love a relaxing audiobook paired with a puzzle? Started at the Savage Library as a fun community opportunity, we now host free puzzle exchanges in most locations. If you have gently used puzzle to donate, you can bring it to any SCL location and exchange it for a fresh one. Don't have a puzzle to donate? No worries! You can still take one to enjoy, no library card required.
Game Donations & Purchase Suggestions
- Do you have a complete, gently used game to donate? Call Library Administration at 952-496-8010 to speak with the Collection Development Manager.
- Use our Suggest a Title Form to make a tabletop game purchase suggestion. Our Collection Development Manager will review the submission and let you know if we choose to purchase it.
Gaming Programs
We often have fun programming opportunities to enjoy games at the library, especially during Summer Reading.
