Notary Commission

To apply for a Notary commission license with Scott County, you must 1) be a Scott County resident and 2) you must have been approved and received your commission from the Minnesota Secretary of State.

• If you have a commission which is expired, you must complete a Notary Application (PDF), check Re-appointment on the application, and submit by mail to the Secretary of State's Office.

Filing Process

You may file in person or file by mail, drop box, or standby line. 

Directions

1. Print and complete Scott County's Notary Signature Form (PDF). Have you signatures notarized by a different notary.
2. Mail a copy of your commission card, Notary Signature Form, and payment to:

Shakopee, MN 55379 

Acceptable IDs

 Acceptable proof of identity includes:

• Current driver’s license 
• Current state issued identification card
• Current passport 
• Naturalization certificate

Cost

Notary registration can be done for a fee of $20. You can pay with cash, check (payable to Scott County) or credit card. If you pay with a credit card you will be paying a 2.45% convenience fee.
