Cell Tower

Required Submittals ----- Important: Project address shall be displayed on all submittal documents. Applications with incomplete submittals will be delayed.

IMPORTANT: Electronic submittal document files are required to be named appropriately to ensure efficient permit processing. Antenna Replacement (Like for Like) - A building permit is not required for antenna replacements on existing towers when the size and weight of the equipment being removed is the same as the size and weight of the equipment being reinstalled.

Antenna (Additional or Size Change) - A building permit is required for addition of antenna or equipment on existing towers where no tower modifications. This includes antenna replacement that is not the same.

  • Contact and Contractor Form (PDF) - To complete form, type or print neatly. Upload completed contact and contractor form as applicable for your project. Contacts and sub-contractors listed will be notified of permit.
  • Building Plans - Structural Analysis and construction drawings, by design engineer.
  • Specifications - Shall include product installation details not already addressed in the engineered design.

Tower/Structure - A building permit is required for modifications or repairs to existing tower structures and for new towers.

  • Building Plans - Structural Analysis and construction drawings, by design engineer.
  • Special Inspection Form (PDF) - Due to the unique nature of the tower elevation, special inspections are required for tower alteration fastening and materials inspections. Special Inspections shall comply with the MN Building Code. Please see Chapter 17 Section 1704  The special inspector can be an approved qualified third party agency or the registered design professional in responsible charge and engineers of record involved in the design of the project are permitted to act as the approved agency and their personnel are permitted to act as the special inspector for the work designed by them, provided they qualify as special inspectors. This form must be filled out in entirety and signed by project participants as applicable. Application acceptance will not occur without completed form. Special Inspections shall comply with the MN Building Code.
